What is normal? Who is normal? How can you be normal? Normal, for most people, is what they know. Normal is what people understand. Normal, in all aspects, is the expected. Normal is a façade, a mask, used by those who are ignorant to diversity. The people who believe in normal are the same people who bully, torment and harass those whom they deem not “normal”. They are the people who cannot see, or more accurately, refuse to see the different aspects in life as good and even intriguing. The unfortunate truth to what society has perceived as normal is that they do not welcome the different, the intriguing, and the unexpected. They would rather crush those who believe in the different than step out of their own insecurities and accept the idea that not everyone is “normal.” If asked to define normal, could you do it? Could you find the explanation behind this simple word that drives people to insanity if not enforced? Could you figure out why society must depend on the boundary of “normal”? The people who are normal are the same. They dress the same, act the same, do the same, like the same, and depend on the same. They are drones to themselves acting alike to survive inside the prison of society’s normal. The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently. This idea of a “normal” in life is a confinement to the same. Do you want to be the same as everyone else? Or perhaps you would like to be your own individual but you are afraid of those who are “normal” and what their reaction might be to someone who dares defy the laws of “normal?” Do not fear the “normal”, rather, teach them the way of individuality. This, I assure, you will work. The reason it will work is because people, all people, strive and try to be “normal”, but individuality is burned, programmed into people at birth. They just have to accept it. For those who believe in normal, I say to you, shut up. Just because you refuse to break free from the chains of normal does mean you can wrap those chains around the individuals whom believe in themselves. To those who believe in individuality, I say to you, stay strong.
